Complete answer

Time of Mary Tompson’s death: 07:30 P.M.
The only person who has no alibi: Charles. Charles is the murderer.

He was tired of his wife blaming and mistreating him. His marriage had become a source of pain in his life. But if Mary granted him a divorce, he’d risk losing his wealth.

He decided to put an end to it. After having some drinks and pretending to have fallen asleep, at 7:30 p. m., he left the living room and went up to Mary’s room and killed her. Mary fought for her life but only managed to tear Charles’ watch off his wrist, which fell at the foot of the bed.

Hold on – the police will be here in a few minutes. You should be proud of yourself for solving the mystery!
